What is Chiropractic?

"Chiropractic is a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs and surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health."

The objective is to restore and optimize human health. Chiropractors are primarily concerned with locating and treating vertebral subluxations. A vertebral subluxation is a complex of functional and/or structural and/or pathological articular (joint) changes that compromise neural integrity and may influence organ system function and general health. The chiropractor checks the patient's spine for any misalignments, fixations or other abnormalities (vertebral subluxations). If subluxations or other abnormalities are detected, the chiropractor will generally apply a gentle force in a corrective manner to the affected spinal area. Chiropractors use many specialized techniques to identify and treat these spinal abnormalities and optimize overall health.

Child Care

Patients often say they didn’t know we could adjust babies or ask why would a baby need an adjustment? The forces that are exerted on a baby during birth are incredible. Babies have to twist and turn, sometimes need extra force from the doctor during birth, and this can really misalign the newborn's spine. A very common issue seen in newborn infants is subluxations through the cervical (neck) spine from the stress of birth. With these subluxations, we see nonstop crying, babies who won't sleep, only finding comfort when being held a certain way, etc. A simple adjustment to the baby often times will help diminish or even resolve these problems.

Another BIG issue chiropractic adjustments may help with is a colicing baby. The general public is becoming more aware about how amazing chiropractic can be for improving a baby's digestive system. If your baby is not eating, always crying and restless, please don't hesitate to see our doctors. We have seen miraculous results in babies who have been suffering from colic for months. And as you can imagine, the parents find major relief as well. As we stated above, all of our Chiropractors are highly trained in this area and love to see babies in the clinic!

Chiropractic can also help with: latching, babies with difficulty walking and crawling, allergies, ear infections, digestion issues, and more.
